Pre-season:

It’s time to kick off the soccer tournament with our team’s pre-season blog post! We are Catherine, Holly, Lucy, Isa, Aaryan and Oli and we are the Goal Rush. The soccer tournament is shaping up to look really exciting, and in the meantime we’ve completed many training sessions to prepare ourselves for the first game. With the help from our coach Aaryan, and captain Holly, we’ve done many drills in order to help us make our way towards winning this competition. The first match is coming up and we’re prepared to beat Team 4 in the start of what will hopefully be a victorious tournament for our team.

Game 1:

(11/08/25)

The tournament officially started today with the first round and the Goal Rush had a great game against Team 4. We were down a few players, but while the first half of the game didn’t look so promising for our team, we managed to come through at the end and take the win with a score of 2 to 1! Our team strategies and positions we played in worked pretty well for today’s game, so we will continue to play roughly the same way for the rest of the tournament so that hopefully we win the whole thing. Overall, a really exciting match that was lots of fun to play.

Game 2:

(19/08/25)

Game 2 brought even more success to the Goal Rush team with our second win! This was the first time our team had all 6 members ready to play, and every one of us put in our best effort and gave it our all. In today’s game, we improved as a team in better communication and understanding of what was happening on the field. In comparison to the last game we played, we all did better at considering each pass to our other team mates, while travelling with the ball further down the field to reach the goal. We versed team 1 in today’s game, which was a challenge as they were a strong team who were hard to play against, but in the end we beat them 3 to 1. Hopefully the goal rush can keep up our winning streak in our next game we play.

Game 3:

(20/08/25)

Game 3 was affected by the interruption of the rain, and the oval being too wet to play on, however the game still went on, just under slightly different conditions. Today’s game was played on the grey courts, which limited the field size but all teams adapted well. This round  was our team’s turn to be on a bye, so we all filled different roles such as reffing, keeping score and subbing for other teams to help the tournament go ahead. It was an interesting change of pace to be watching other teams play, rather than playing ourselves but it helped all of us to pick up on different techniques and skills that we could take and use in our own games upcoming in this season.

Game 4:

(26/08/25)

Game 4 might’ve been our best game so far of the tournament. Everyone in Goal Rush gave it their all today, with great outcomes. Today we versed team 5, and won yet another game with a score of 6-3, which is the most goals we’ve ever won in a match before. In today’s game, our team did amazing at making strong passes to each other, and getting lots of goals. We’re at the point of the tournament when now all of us really understand each other really well, and we are able to communicate great on the field to keep the ball in our team’s possession. There’s only one game left before the semi-finals and with our team’s winning streak, it’s looking very promising for our team to win a spot playing in it.

Game 5:

(27/08/25)

Today’s game was a rough one for our team, as we lost 6 – 0 versus team 2. We lacked team communication on the field today, and it was hard for us to find each other on the field, which is something we will try hard to improve on heading into the finals. However, there is still good news for our team, as so far in the tournament, our team is coming second! This means that next week our team will be versing team 2 in the semis, to try and win a spot in the grand finale. Hopefully our team can build more skill in our next training session to win the semis.

Semi-finals:

(03/09/25)

Before the semi-finals today, our team was coming second on the ladder and we proved our great reputation again today after winning against team 1! It was a pretty slow-moving and uneventful game to start, and up until the last two minutes of the game no goals had been scored yet by either team. However all we needed were those last two minutes because at the end we came through and scored two goals. Next game is the grand finale, and we are up against the team to beat. However, if we put our heads together before the game and apply a strong team strategy, we might just stand a chance at becoming the winners of the soccer tournament. We’re so close to gold, we can almost feel it
